Filled Bread Pakora: A Delicious Snack !

You have friends coming over, and you are wondering what to make with Chai (tea). Bread Pakoras are the perfect quick snack,  they are bound to impress and delight any friends or family. These vegetarian sandwiches are filled with a potato and pea mixture and fried in chick pea batter.  My mouth is watering  just writing about them!

My daughter loves Bread Pakoras, they dont last long in my house!

Ingredients

4-6 White Bread or soft wheat bread  (Slices)

2 Potatoes (boiled and mashed)

1/4 tsp Garlic (mashed or paste)

1 tsp Cumin Seeds

2 tbsp Cilantro (chopped)

1/2 cup frozen or cooked green peas

1 tsp Salt

1/2 tsp Black Pepper

1 tbsp of Garam Masala

1/2 Cup Red Onion (chopped)

1 green chili finely chopped

1 Cup Chickpea Flour

Oil for frying

Directions

1. Boil and mash potatoes in a bowl. In that same bowl add 1/2 tsp salt, garam masala, green chili, chopped onion, cumin seeds, garlic and cilantro. Mix well and set aside. In an another bowl, take chickpea flour, add 1/2 tsp salt, black pepper, and pinch of garam masala. Now add approx. 1/2 cup water to make batter. It should be thick enough to coat a finger lightly.

2. Cut bread slices diagonally. Spread 2 tbsp of bread mixture on one side of each bread triangle.

3. Press the second half of bread triangle on top. If bread does not stick, wet your hand in little water before pressing two bread pieces together. Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is hot, dip stuffed triangle in chickpea batter one or two at a time and deep fry till crispy golden from all sides (5-6 minutes). Drain oil and place on paper towel. Serve hot.  Serve with ketchup or chutneys for dipping. Wonderful with Tea of Coffee.
